The Gulf Coast is simply beautiful. The beauty of the Gulf of Mexico combined with the weather and the climate make it an ideal place to live. Unfortunately, along with the beauty comes a problem. Storm damage from hurricanes, tornadoes or violent storms combined with sometimes unrelenting heat can cause damage to residential structures. The same sun that allows you to tan (or burn!), also fades furnishings and artwork exposed to the light.
Fortunately, there is now an easy solution to these problems.StormGARD window films (888-306-7998-14 is a cost efficient solution. StormGARD is a clear film that is applied to existing windows. When properly applied the film is "optically clear" and does not alter the appearance of the glass. It is difficult, if not impossible to tell what glass has film and what glass does not. The filming can be done without the remodeling time and effort that is required to replace glass.
Filming windows strengthens existing window glass up to 300% providing protection by keeping glass intact. The glass might still break if struck with sufficient force, but the film holds all of the broken pieces together. Holding glass together serves two purposes: First, it prevents an opening from being created from the broken glass, lessening water damage.
Secondly, collateral damage such as injuries from flying glass is significantly reduced and a properly filmed window also prevents other debris from flying through the window. Potential fire damage is decreased by lessening the possibility of the glass shattering from the pressure of radiated heat and feeding oxygen to a fire.
Filming glass provides several benefits in addition to storm damage control. Film can be either clear or tinted, with tinting beneficial to significantly reduce heat and glare. All StormGARD window films also provide a 98% reduction in ultraviolet rays, lessening the fading of carpets, art and furnishings.
An additional benefit of StormGARD film is protection from intentional damage. Glass is one of the weakest points in any structure and the most secure buildings are the ones with the least glass. Glass is often chosen as an entry point in burglaries because it breaks easily. Access by residential burglars is generally gained by either reaching through or climbing through broken glass. All buildings have walls, and in many cases sophisticated locking systems that are difficult to breach. Unfortunately, a hammer or even a rock is all
that is needed to break most unprotected windows.
StormGARD films are also being used protect commercial and retail structures. Our films are maintenance free and reduce or eliminate the need for additionalwindow protection such as burlar bars and grates.
Protection from storm damage, UV protection, and burglary prevention all in the same package, along with a lifetime warranty. Window film seems to be the "clear" choice for the protection of coastal properties.
